“Every time I move forward, I start feeling distracted or something pulls me back…”

Dear Ms. Shannon,

I feel like I keep ruining my own momentum.

I’ll have a few good days where I feel focused, motivated, and clear about what I want to do… and then somehow I end up right back in old habits again. Distracted. Tired. Avoiding things. Procrastinating. Numbing out.

What’s frustrating is that I want more for my life. I have goals, ideas, and things I care about deeply, but lately it feels hard to stay connected to them consistently.

It’s like every time I try to move forward, something happens.

Unexpected expenses.

Drama.

Emotional burnout.

People needing things from me.

Or honestly, sometimes I just lose energy completely.

I know I’m not lazy, but I do feel undisciplined. Another part of me feels like I’m going through some kind of internal shift that I don’t fully understand yet.

Have you ever seen people go through periods like this before?

And how do you know if you’re genuinely off track… or if something deeper is happening underneath it all?

~ Feeling Stuck in the Cycle

A Note from Ms. Shannon

There was a message that came through around ‘distractions’ that is featured in my blog, and I feel called to expand on that.

Because distractions aren’t just small, surface-level things.

They don’t only show up as a passing thought or a momentary loss of focus.

Some distractions come for your time.

Some come for your energy.

And some come disguised as things that feel familiar, reasonable, or even well-timed when they’re actually doing the opposite.

I want to talk about three things that are connected:

Distractions.

Recalibration.

And the acceleration that follows.

And if you found this letter and have also been feeling like something is shifting, speeding up, or quietly asking more of you right now, then this message is likely for you. And if you have been feeling distracted or like you are starting over, this message is definitely for you.

Feeling Distracted Isn’t Random

When we think of distractions, we usually think of small things. Like when you’re meditating and suddenly you need to itch. But the bigger distractions - the ones that matter most - are the ones that pull you off your trajectory.

They show up when you know you should be doing one thing…but you keep giving your time to something else. It’s the call that comes at exactly the wrong time. The invitation you know you should decline, but don’t. The money you’re saving for something meaningful, and suddenly a bill appears or someone needs help.

And what’s important to understand is this:

Whenever you’re moving forward, whenever you’re on a trajectory of growth, there is often an equal and opposite force that shows up to pull you off course.

Many of you who are drawn to my work are here for something specific.

A mission. A calling. A contribution.

Distractions don’t show up to stop you completely. They show up to delay you, drain you, or scatter your focus.

This Is Also Playing Out Collectively

This isn’t only personal.

Look at how much distraction we’ve all been navigating collectively.

Look at how much noise, interruption, and emotional pull there has been.

And while attention is divided, a lot happens behind the scenes.

Recognize the patterns so you don’t get thrown off by them

This is where recalibration comes in.

Many of you were on a clear path…and then something happened that knocked you off balance. And instead of continuing forward, you had to stop, reassess, heal, and/or learn a whole new set of lessons. For many of you, the last year or two has been about getting back to where you left off. That recalibration wasn’t a setback. It was a realignment. It was necessary.

And Now Comes Acceleration

Here’s where things shift...

Many of you are coming out of that recalibration now, and you can feel that there’s momentum, or a sense of being launched or catapulted into something new. This is the acceleration phase. And yes, sometimes it feels overwhelming.

Think of it this way: Had you stayed on track originally, you would already be here. You’d already be preparing for the next project, expansion, or breakthrough. So now, things compress and they move faster because this acceleration is designed to bring you to where you were always meant to be.

Energy, Alignment, and Focus

As you take your energy back and notice when it’s being siphoned, drained, or pulled sideways, you naturally start focusing on what actually matters and what you’re meant to be doing. And when that happens, the impact ripples outward.

This is how change happens - quietly, consistently, and through alignment. If you’ve been recalibrated, know that you are protected, guided, and are being gifted right now. That recalibration served its purpose and now alignment is doing its work. The rewards come as you continue to recognize distractions and stay committed.

Practical Discernment

Let’s get grounded for a moment.

Use discernment with your time.

Yes, connection matters. No, this isn’t about hermit mode isolation. But if today was meant for writing, creating, building, and distraction shows up, what do you choose? What are you committed to?

Because right now, there are amazing connections and opportunities waiting for you and distractions only delay access to them!

Recognize what drains you versus what energizes you.

Time Is the Currency Right Now

Time is precious - especially on a path of acceleration.

Everything you do needs intention.

Stop giving time to what doesn’t matter - to what won’t matter.

You have people waiting for you and you have important things to do.

And yes - what you want wants you too.

But alignment requires participation. Get on the train.

You don’t need to do everything. But you do need to get on the train.

You don’t want to wait another five to seven years for something that’s available now.

Right now, you’re not off path, you’re aligning.

And when alignment locks in, things move.

Closing Insight

Before we close, I wanted to take a moment to ground this message with oracle cards to offer a final point of reflection and something additional to hold as you move forward from here.

The cards that came out were:

Pink full moon in a starry sky with Sagittarius symbol; caption reads Look at the bigger picture and Full Moon in Sagittarius.
Full Moon in Sagittarius: Look at the bigger picture | Moonology Oracle Cards
Illustrated bull in front of a colorful full moon with stars; text reads Your dreams need a practical plan and Full Moon in Taurus
Full Moon in Taurus: Your dreams need a practical plan | Moonology Oracle Cards

Intuitive Message:

I think these two cards speak beautifully to this letter.

Whenever you feel distracted, overwhelmed, or pulled in different directions, come back to the bigger picture. Remember what you’re building toward. Remember who you’re doing it for. And most importantly, remember why you started.

The Full Moon in Sagittarius reminds us not to get so caught up in temporary distractions that we lose sight of the vision.

And the Full Moon in Taurus brings this message back down to earth in a practical way. Sometimes procrastination isn’t laziness. Sometimes things simply feel too overwhelming, unclear, or emotionally heavy to process all at once.

So... simplify it!

Write things down.

Set practical goals.

Take one aligned step at a time.

Check things off your list...

And don't forget to celebrate your progress along the way.

You do not need to have everything figured out today.

Hold the vision of what you truly want.

Stay connected to your “why.”

And trust that alignment is already happening beyond the surface.

Message from the book

Full Moon in Taurus - Your dreams need a practical plan

Sometimes you need to weave a bit of magic and sometimes you need to be practical - and sometimes you need to find a combination of the two. This card suggests that this is where you are now. You need to use the laws of attraction to draw in what you want (by imagining it, expecting it, feeling it and welcoming it) but you need to balance that with taking down-to-earth steps towards your goals. This isn’t about wishing on the Moon and hoping for the best; it’s about making something like a list of bullet points about how to achieve your dreams. If you are asking about money, this card heralds a change of financial fortunes depending on both your past actions and what you are expecting and therefore attracting.

Full Moon in Sagittarius - Look at the bigger picture

Pink full moon in a starry black sky with a zodiac archer symbol and text: Look at the bigger picture, Full Moon in Sagittarius.

Are you thinking too much about the details of your dilemma? Fretting over minutiae can be counterproductive. Or perhaps you're being all talk and no action? This card is a reminder that while it's good to think things through, sometimes you need to step back and look at the bigger picture. What do you then see about your current situation? What's the most positive thought you can have about it? Now is the time to count your blessing, even if you don't have exactly what you want. This is a reminder that we often have to take a few risks and go with uncertainty on this journey called Life. Try to keep an open mind about what's for the best; the Universe could surprise you.

Final Reflection

Pay attention to what keeps pulling you away from yourself.

And pay even closer attention to what keeps calling you forward.

One drains you.

The other is trying to change your life.
