Hello again, Beautiful Souls – I hope everyone is thriving!

Real quick...

You know how kids can sometimes say the craziest things? Well, let me tell you how my daughter enlightened me and reminded me of a valuable lesson…

Yesterday, I had an interesting and brief conversation with Ms. Alexis, who is 6.5 years old. She ran in the kitchen and shouted “Mommy, I’m ready!”

Me: “You’re ready? What are you ready for, Lexis?”

Alexis: “Nothing… just ready!”

Me: “You know what? Now that is an amazing perspective – you go girl!”

I mean, can we all just be this lovely child, in spirit?!

Sure, as kids, it’s easy, right? But the main differences between us adults and most children are age, responsibilities, and fear – or lack of it on their part!

Think about playing on the staircase, for example. Can’t imagine doing it now huh? But hopefully you have memories as a kid of sliding – or more like thumping and bumping – down the stairs, making funny noises. This was especially fun with the tops of laundry hampers (or the dirty clothes baskets as I called them growing up 😊).

As we grow into adulthood, our mindset for many things becomes: "It's dangerous" and/or “I’m too old for that”. Now the kids are missing out on happy moments because we’re yelling at them to “stop playing on my stairs” LOL, as our caregivers likely did to us.

Here’s another one: Have you ever observed a child walk down the stairs and stop at the bottom 3-5 thinking of jumping? HAHA! My son gives me the luxury of viewing this often.

He will get to the middle of the stairs and once he starts slowing down, I know he’s thinking of jumping already. He’s mastered jumping off the bottom two stairs, so he is testing his limits.

The interesting thing to me are the different thought processes – I’ll be shaking my head thinking, Boy, you are crazy, because my mind immediately goes through the consequences for my knees and ankles.

For him though, the stairs are like mini milestones as he is probably thinking: “I wonder if I can make it from here.” – I don’t believe he considers whether he should actually do it or not LOL. The beauty of it all is that he ALWAYS takes that leap of faith when he thinks about it, and even if he misses his landing, he embraces the fall – adding a few tumbles and sound effects to go along!

Just…be ready!

I know, I know, as grown folk it’s always easier said than done, and with this one, I couldn’t agree more!

We are so busy with calendars, scheduling, planning, expecting, and needing to control, know, and micromanage basically everything that ‘going with the flow’ and not fearing the unknown takes one of my son’s leaps of faith. It also takes a high level of trust and belief in yourself and the knowing that all will work out in your favor and for your highest good!

Being ready for whatever is easiest when you let go of labeling things ‘good’ or ‘bad’. Replace good with blessings, magic, miracles, etc., and bad with lessons, experiences, or karma – of which either were created, accepted, and/or necessary for growth.

So, my friends, what will it take for you to be ready for whatever?
